Hey everyone,
We are pleased to announce two upcoming survival classes.  These classes will be hosted by Sierra12 in the Prescott, Arizona area. The classes will be a 2 day course and take place in an austere field learning environment.

We would like to get your input in order to schedule these classes.  We need to have a minimum of 10 seats filled per class in order to move forward with the hosting.  Please take 2 minutes and fill out the survey and RSVP form at the bottom of this entry.  Please help us by indicating what you can commit too.

The course will have a retail price of $400.00, we are working on getting a discount code authorized for these courses so keep your eyes on this site and our Facebook page for special offers.

High level course outline:

This class will cover the following topics:
  • Survival mindset
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Basic Orienteering
  • Hygiene considerations
  • Unconventional shelter building
  • Fire building techniques
  • Water foraging and purification
  • Edible flora
  • Trapping
  • Humane killing, skinning and cooking of small game animals
  • Review of your personal survival equipment and gear load-out with recommendations.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to practice all of the newly learned skills including the taking and processing of small game for one of their meals.  We ask that you do not bring a tent as we will be utilizing unconventional shelter techniques.  Bringing a bivy sack or bug netting is advised.  In the colder months take into account weather conditions and packing appropriate clothing and sleeping equipment.

Bring any additional equipment or tools which you would like to experiment with during the course.  Bring food to support 2 days worth of meals. Mountain House or MRE type meals work good as they pack nicely.  Ultralight camp stoves are allowed.  Stainless steel “canteen cup” or “camp cup” work well for warming / boiling water over a wood fire.  Bring water- at a minimum 100 oz, a water bladder works well but also have a wide mouth water bottle of some kind. We will have access to water onsite for refilling your reservoirs.

This class will not be a tactical survival class, utilization of white light flashlights is allowed, it would be preferred that you use a filter such as a red or green lens over the light in order to preserve natural night vision in our eyes. Head lamps are very handy as you will be needing to work with both hands often.

  • DayPack/Overnight Pack total weight should not exceed 30% of your body weight
