Not long ago I mentioned in a previous blog post how impressed I was with the quality of the Burris FastFire3 MRD. The only con I found in the entire package was the Burris MRD mount lacked a bit on the fit and finish. Don't get me wrong, the Burris base will do fine for most weekend shooters and plinkers. Some shooters just don't feel they need the additional strength, return to zero and combat ruggedness of select after market optic mounts. The training we do at Sierra12 does require the products we use to have those extra quality traits. I set out to find a MRD mount which would allow an MRD to be ran as the primary....
Jump forward a few days and I received the mount and riser and began unpacking and inspecting them. The first thing I noticed is the attention to detail on the mounts. The fit and finish is top quality. All of the surfaces match up perfectly. The design is skeletonized to save weight. The skeletonization helps give me the feeling of a further added sense of awareness, Having very little flat surfaces in front of my face left very little in the way of blind spots.
Installing the MRD Riser on my flat top AR was simple. Next I added the Low-Pro scope mount to the top of the riser, everything matched up perfectly. Finished it off with the installation of the Burris FastFire 3. The full Low-Pro MRD mount is rock solid.
The next few pictures will show a comparison to the standard Burris FastFire 3 optics mount. Again this isn't calling out the Burris mount, rather we are showing the additional features found on the aftermarket Low-Pro MRD optics mount.
We are headed out for another fun weekend of training. This weekend will be Small Unit Security patrolling. The Burris FastFire 3 and AMS Machine Low-Pro Mount will be in attendance. having already run the rifle with this optic on, I know its already a shooter, I'm just gonna see how much abuse it can handle now.
I will finish up with with picture gallery, look at the captions for further details on what I was attempting to capture in the picture.
I nearly forgot to mention. AMS has a nice selection of flashlight mounts, rail accessories and M-14 rail goodness. Take a look at there stuff, support small Veteran owned, made in America businesses. These are salt of the earth people making some really great products.
